Marianna and Alberto met on November 11, 2017 at a mutual friend’s party: Marianna clearly remembers the date, because it was also Alberto’s birthday. They met in a pizzeria in the center of Rovigo, where they both lived at the time and they happened to sit next to each other. “We couldn’t stop talking, and from that moment we have been inseparable,” Marianna recalls, as a smile brightens her face.
And so, they fell in love and a year later they were already living together. At first, they rented but then in 2020 they decided to take a bigger step and crown their love by buying a house.
The idea of marriage came up more than once throughout the years. Both of them day-dreamed about their big day, despite it being far away in their future plans – or so they thought. In 2022 Marianna felt it was high time they took a bigger step in their relationship, and Alberto’s proposal came not long after, during a holiday on Elba Island, immersed in the beautiful landscapes on the coasts of the Tirreno Sea. Marianna was thrilled and felt it was more than just her wishes: they were both ready and ecstatic at the prospect of marrying. “Considering how our relationship had flourished and how we had grown not only as a couple, but as individuals as well, this was the natural outcome of our story,” explains Marianna.
And so the arrangements for the ceremony began. When Marianna and Alberto started looking for the location for their special day, Marianna stumbled upon some pictures of a couple they knew set in a breathtaking granary. She was fascinated by it, despite not knowing which villa or historical residence it was. While looking online for potential locations, she immediately recognized the pictures of the very same granary, the one she had fallen in love with: it was Villa Maria Teresa. After finding out more information on the villa, they were surprised to learn it was close to Rovigo. After visiting it in person, it was love at first sight for Marianna and she knew that would be the perfect location for her wedding – and no other option would stand a chance.
The date for the big day was set for September 30, 2023. The organization of the ceremony was impeccable. The couple managed to make the most out of the many spaces of the villa and its most characteristic features. The ceremony took place in the park under the willows, with a background of incomparable beauty. The non-religious ceremony in the presence of the mayor of Villamarzana was customized by adding the exchange of vows and by some friends. After that, it was time for an aperitivo under the porticoed area of the barchessa and the garden sapce in front of it. “It was perfect because, since we got married toward the end of September, we managed to enjoy the sunset in the late afternoon, along with its light and beautiful colors,” remembers Marianna.
Dinner was eaten inside, on the stunning first floor of the main villa. The huge chandeliers cast glimmering light on the tables, which were richly decorated with fall colors.
Despite an initial worry for the weather, the couple was lucky because it turned out to be a mild day, with warm temperatures that allowed them to enjoy the moments outside. The cake was cut in the garden facing the villa, right under the trees. The day ended in the best of ways inside the building, with the DJ set and the open bar at the ground floor of the villa, inside the big hall. There, the newly married couple and other guests started dancing, singing, and laughing together late into the night.
Marianna and Alberto cared for a solemn and moving ceremony that would not only celebrate their love, but also represent a meaningful, joyful, festive, and carefree day for friends and relatives. “We did not want the location and its background to change who we are,” Marianna tells us. “We felt as if the whole event had been tailored specifically for us and it was wonderful to add a playful atmosphere in such a sophisticated and romantic context.”
The decorations, the reception, and the music reflected the wishes of the couple. For example, the photobooth with neon lights perfectly matched the warm fall colors that had been chosen for the wedding, and the ceremony area gave the impression of being transported into another dimension, filled with calm and peace and far from the noisy confusion of the city center. The couple especially appreciated that the villa was exclusive to them and their guests for the wedding day, so that they did not have to share the space with other people, thus managing to make the most of it with utmost privacy. The day was planned so that both the ceremony and the reception took place in the villa, which allowed for better management and more time to party. All of these characteristics made the magical Villa Maria Teresa the perfect place for Marianna and Alberto’s wedding.
After the wedding, they left for Bali, where they had decided to go for their honeymoon and where they enjoyed dream-like views and unique experiences. In the next few years, they plan more travels in Southeast Asia, which they love.
As a piece of advice, Marianna underlines how important it is to ask the people closest to us for help and to understand the different phases for the organization of a wedding, since there is a lot to think about. Special advice for couples is, “If you like something, follow your instincts and your heart right from the start. If you feel a special attraction for some choices, it means they are the right ones. You are the only one who knows what’s right for yourself and your partner, because the choice you make will be the most beautiful and best for that day, and it will stay with you forever.”
